Should Aussies get wedding leave?1:01

Some countries give workers up to 15 days off for their wedding or honeymoon, but Australians use their annual leave! So should we get it too?

A bride walked down the aisle not with her father but with her daughter — on her back to be precise.

Dalton Mort, 22, decided to strap two-year-old Ellora to her back for the ceremony in Ohio, USA, The Sun reported.

Dalton, who married Joe, 23, in Stubenville (a city in Jefferson County), decided Ellora should be a part of their big day in a very special way.

Speaking to People, Dalton explained why she brought her daughter along for the ride.

She said: “I chose to wear my daughter because I knew it would keep her calm on a very hectic day.

“Wearing her also allowed me incorporate her in the ceremony in a way that was normal for both of us.”

The cheeky tot played with the flowers in her mum’s hair as she walked down the aisle, with guests all cooing over the youngster, nicknamed Ellie.

When picking out her dress, Dalton was asked if she required a veil — only to stun photographer Laura Schaefer when she told her why she wouldn’t need one.

Posting the pictures to Facebook, Laura said when she asked about a veil, Dalton said: “No, actually I’ll be wearing (my daughter).

“I told her that I thought that was a great idea, both practically speaking and that it would make for beautiful and unique photos.”

And the decision made for a heartwarming surprise for guests, as Laura added: “When Dalton appeared from behind the doors and began walking down the aisle with Ellie, you could just tell the guests were in awe.

“Everyone was smiling, and you could hear quiet murmurs of ‘so beautiful’ and ‘oh, look at Ellie.’

“Everyone loved it! Ellie looked absolutely adorable, and Dalton looked like a stunning bride and mother.”

The little girl was no trouble at all and fell asleep around 30 minutes into the ceremony.

Dalton said: “Ellie was actually great though. I think with all the people around, she was relieved that I wore her.

“She gets overwhelmed around large groups. The reason I chose that wrap was because it loosely went with the colours I used.

“I didn’t plan on how well it went with the church.”

And Ellie’s involvement didn’t stop there, with Dalton confirming the youngster was coming on the honeymoon with her and Joe.

She added: “I am used to wearing her for an extended amount of time.

“I love wearing my daughter, so it just seemed normal for us.”
